Trachelospermum jasminoides is a species of flowering plant native to eastern and south eastern Asia (Japan, Korea, southern China and Vietnam). Trachelospermum jasminoides is an evergreen woody liana growing up to 3 m (10 ft) high. If cut, they exude a white latex, resembling sticky milk. The leaves are opposite, oval to lanceolate, 2–10 cm (3⁄4–3 7⁄8 in) long and 1–4.5 cm (3⁄8–1 3⁄4 in) broad. Usually, dark green in summer, the leaves turn bronze in winter. This species is commonly used as an ornamental plant and houseplant. So it can be found in gardens, public landscapes, and parks. It will appear as a climbing vine, groundcover or a fragrant potted plant on terraces and patios. Helpfully, it will flower in full sun, partial shade, or total shade, and requires well-drained soil. It needs a trench at least 40 cm deep. The soil must be water permeable with good drainage. Finally, clear any debris from the soil and break down any impermeable clay layers to allow the plant roots to grow deep into the ground. To help the establishment of a healthy root system please ensure there are no barriers (plastic sheets, concrete slabs for example) in the area. Then use a good quality compost if and where the soil is not rich in humus. Watering, Pruning & Fertilising: Please don’t forget to look after your new hedge though. Fertiliser will be needed depending on when its planted. We also advise regular watering during the first year after planting. Then prune in April/May or September/October. Brackets: There are two types of brackets available, a wall mount bracket for attaching to a flat surface and a post bracket which can be used with most types of fence posts. Screens of 220 cm height require 6 brackets per screen, Screens of 180 cm height require 4 brackets per screen, Screens of 100 cm height require 4 brackets per screen. This will allow the plant stems to swell between the iron grid of the screen and the posts. The measurements between the posts must adhere to a centre-to-centre distance of 130 to 132 cm. Please note that for the total length of the installation there is always at least one more post needed than the number of screens used.
